Christ at the Checkpoint Conference 2024

An Opportunity to Learn from Palestinian Religious Leaders

Religious leaders and thinkers are integral to the Palestinian struggle for freedom. Since 2010, the Christian organization located in occupied Bethlehem, Christ at the Checkpoint, has put on a biennial conference to discuss the role of the global church in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. It is meant to provide information from the “bottom up,” and promote justice and advocacy for the oppressed people of Palestine. Importantly, it is a great opportunity for those of us outside the region to learn directly from Palestinian activists, clergy, and theologians.

This year’s conference, entitled, “Do Justice, Love Mercy: Christian Witness in Contexts of Oppression,” runs from May 22 - 26. In the coming days, you will find presentation recordings on their YouTube page. Click here to learn more about the organization.

Israel has destroyed every university in Gaza since we published this meditation on hope and Palestinian liberation in November 2023. Israeli settlers, many American-born, have terrorized Palestinians in the other occupied territories during that time. But Palestinian people are still there on that land despite it all. They are still resisting their oppression and articulating a vision for a just future.

In solidarity,

Dwayne
